Songwriter, Composer – “We Got the Beat,” “Vacation,” Lovelace: A Rock Opera
Charlotte Caffey is a die-hard songwriter and a founding member of The Go-Go’s who wrote several of their hit songs including “We Got The Beat” “Vacation” and “Head Over Heels”. She has written and recorded with such diverse artists as Keith Urban, Carole King, Courtney Love, The Bangles, Jewel, Heart, Lindsey Buckingham, and Jon Bon Jovi-to name just a few. Her melodic, riff-laden songs have been used in dozens of classic movies like “Fast Times At Ridgemont High” “Romy and Michelle” and “13 Going On 30”, as well as countless TV shows and commercials. In addition, in July of 2018 “Head Over Heels” a new musical, opens on Broadway. The songs of The Go-Go’s, including all of Caffey’s well-known hits and other classic songs she wrote for her band, are the songs that tell the story.

Caffey started working in the LA theater scene in 2006. Along with her writing partner Anna Waronker, she wrote the book, music and lyrics for “Lovelace: A Rock Opera” which had a a very successful 6 month run at The Hayworth Theater in LA from 2008-2009, garnering multiple awards and critical acclaim. It’s success continued at the 2010 Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. In 2015, Caffey and Waronker wrote three songs for the play ”Hit The Wall” at the LA LGBT Center, which had a 6 month sold-out run from 2015-2016 winning numerous awards and receiving rave reviews. The duo worked with Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner on a re-imagined version of “Searching for Signs Of Intelligent Life In The Universe” composing the underscore for this iconic piece. Caffey and Waronker are currently adapting “Hit The Wall” into a musical. In addition to the songs written for the play they have written 12 new songs for the production.
