Producer, Songwriter - “B*tch Better Have My Money,” “She’s Mine Pt.1 & Pt. 2,” “Like Ah Boss”

"B*tch Better Have My Money" producer Deputy is more than just a music producer, he is a strategist with a multifaceted approach to producing and sustaining multiple opportunities for creative wealth. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York to Trinidadian parents, his West Indian roots had a major influence on his musical palette and affinity towards music. As a child, Deputy got his start playing in a steel band orchestra where he played the steel pan for 15 years. "At first I didn't know how to make a career from music, so I transitioned to corporate America working at Morgan Stanley." But he soon realized his passion for music was too great to fit behind a desk, so he quit and started an internship at Jive Records. He used the money he earned in corporate America to buy music equipment. Through his internship, he produced his first placement with artist Nivea and hit songwriter The Dream.

Over time, Deputy diligently continued to hone his craft all while collecting placements with artists such as Wale, Sean Garrett, Rick Ross, French Montana, Ne-Yo and creating a buzz that soon got him signed to Roc Nation in 2009. Grateful for the opportunity, Deputy quickly learned how to use the brand as a vehicle to secure his place in music. "I realized I had to work harder." So Deputy did just that and used his persistent work ethic and drive to move him forward down the road to success. He relocated to LA and through his connections and relationships he began working vehemently with writers and producers. Despite encountering the many ups and downs of the music business, Deputy's profound resilience and dedication to his craft ultimately earned him his big break when he produced Rihanna's certified Platinum hit single "BBHMM." "I knew that song was a hit the moment we created it in the studio, so hearing it on the radio really confirmed the gut feeling I had. That moment motivated me to focus on what was next."  Deputy even garnered success in the musical arena of the very heritage that inspired him to do music when he produced the biggest song at Trinidad Carnival 2015 with Machel Montano, "Like ah Boss!" "My sound is diverse. I can do Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, etc. My goal is to be innovative and bold creatively."

Deputy was indeed bold when he had the opportunity to work with legendary Hip Hop lyricist, Nas producing a record titled "War" for The Birth of a Nation soundtrack, using his instrumental gift to shed light on historical social injustice. Deputy worked closely with J. Cole on his  certified Platinum album 4 Your Eyez Only producing fan favorite records, "She's mine Pt.1 and Pt. 2."

Currently Deputy is focused on building his artist, North Carolinian singer-songwriter, Mikhala Jené. "Placements are great but the game of chasing them can be exhausting so it's important to me that I create my own legacy of music grounded in purpose with an artist I'm 100 percent invested in. Mikhala's a phenomenal talent in which I have the ability to do just that."

Along his musical journey, Deputy still carries with him the financial knowledge he gained in his earlier years of working at Morgan Stanley. His goal is to diversify and build wealth with the money he makes from music. "I'm a big advocate for musicians being smart financially. I think it's critical that we as musicians use our platforms to diversify assets to ensure a financially stable future before the hits stop hitting."
